This week, we participated in the EUCPN (European Crime Prevention Network) conference in Tallinn! It was the opportunity to exchange and debate on crime prevention with more than 200 participants. Efus joined a panel on "Preventing Organised Crime in the EU: Collaboration" with European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL), Europol, and Radicalisation Awareness Network - RAN! We showcased Efus' work and the IcARUS Project, highlighting Rotterdam's efforts and tools: "Spaanse Polder" to combat organised crime. A very interesting perspective about security, democracy and cities in Le Monde, signed by our Executive Committee members Ville de Liège Gemeente Rotterdam Generalitat de Catalunya Stadt Mannheim Ville de Nice : "In the face of crime, primarily repressive responses are not appropriate [...] It is not by turning our cities into hyper-secure fortresses that we will solve the problems of security. On the contrary, we are convinced that prevention and the strengthening of social cohesion are the best antidotes to insecurity, alongside the use of penalties when necessary." >> Read here: https://shorturl.at/eyzTU >> Full English version: https://shorturl.at/adrxV
